Heart that Rocks the Cradle, also Digs a Grave

Why does the act of killing an infant not move the heart of the killer ?
Statistics say that 10 million female children vanish from India every year through various actions - abortions, female-infanticide, & related causes. That is how hard many hearts are becoming — imagine how hard it should have become, to bury one's daughter alive.

Today's news media puts this grave act as a news-piece sandwiched between the news of some celebrity's new girl-friend & the weather-report.

Almost no criminal charges are filed in these cases, and rightly so when the country is being rocked by scams amounting so heavy with which one can feed 3 African nations for 2 years - these murders of innocent things don't even get an attention.

Our views on this world are becoming so materialistic that one feels anguish & pain when something of this life, like wealth, honour, status, etc, is lost. One feels as if been injured badly because he/she did not get what others did.
This extends into the mindset where it becomes: "When another has a boy, I have a (damn it!)girl."

Bringing up children in certain parts of India (as so in general Asia/Africa) seems to be a huge challenge. The amount spent on their food, shelter, clothing, medication & if there is little money left that would be for the education. Then comes the biggie of all - 'Marriage'.

Parents of the groom have little to worry, as the whole expense & costs of the wedding has to be taken care by the bride's family. Literally speaking, the Groom's family walks into the wedding and takes home the bride with all the 'freebies' the bride's family offers. It is just like making the best deal of the season - women are traded as products.

So as soon as a baby is born, the simplest solution to these big economical complications seems to be throwing the newborn infants into ditch, wells, trash-cans, burying-alive & you-name-it(sickening!).
Now speaking about the killer : The person should reach a stage where he feels that his heart has turned into a solid rock that is not affected by anything to do such a crime.
I believe, even a soldier strong enough to kill a hundred opponents in battle would run away when ordered to kill a crying infant.
A hardened heart seems not to be affected by anything - This killer with such a hardened heart may even carry a corpse and bury it, yet, he/she walks from the infant's grave as if one were strolling in a garden!

While we even have Zombie sympathisers these days, where do these sick people come from ?

~ A child is a gift, not a choice.
